Ryohei is pretty much the same as his younger self. Loud, excitable, energetic, irritable... extreme! Most of his main characteristics haven't really changed, he still loves fighting and training, and still takes both of them seriously -- to an extent that makes him use a support weapon, just to fight with his own hands.
He's still a great friend... and most importantly, he's still a caring brother.
So, what has really changed?
The Sun Guardian is obviously not the same as before, under the skin of that energetic boxer now exists an extremely mature person. He doesn't act as an idiot anymore, and he isn't as? reckless or impulsive. He learned to think before he acts, even if there are moments where he can lose his mental calm and act on an impulse. But these moments are always less frequent and are usually brought on by something related to his loved ones.
Most important of all, Ryohei acknowledges that the new world he's in and his role in it. It isn't just a normal fight, anymore; it isn't just happy training times with Master Colonnello. It's the Mafia. And by that time, he has probably experienced all the bad sides of it. He's probably killed and seen death more than once, even the ones of people he cares about.
But as I said, after all, Ryohei is still Ryohei.
Living in a bad world, living a life that he has never thought about; those aren't reasons enough to make him change. He'll still be the cheerful, loud guy of the group, always full of energy and who keeps bringing the good mood (and bothering someone else).
Honor and morals mean a lot to Ryohei, and he respects whoever thinks the same, no matter if that person is a friend or an enemy. Even when doing such a job, fairness for him was still extremely important. Killing was something that should happen only it was extremely necessary; and for Ryohei, that most likely meant never. *insert stuff about morals and etc* (for using a gun instead of your own hands)
He has lost two of his most important people and that didn't change him either. Not that he didn't care. He did, and probably felt guilty for being not strong enough to protect them. But he just isn't the kind of man who would waste his time being depressed instead of doing something.
"To crush any adversities that assault the family with my own body. I'm the sun that shines bright!"
That's it, Ryohei knows his role in the Vongola.
"Protect the family with his own body": who more than Ryohei would be good for a job like this? Risking his own life to protect his friends, that's his main duty and he would do anything to achieve it.
