Physical Appearance: 1.80cm tall for 53kg, Yoite wasn't really your average 16 years old teenager. Extremely skinny, it looked like he would never gain weight as much as he eates -- and he does it a lot. He has scars bruises covering the entire body, probably because of the Kira technique and a great scars on his neck, who he covers with his sweater. It is said, in the manga, that he is a very beautiful boy.
He always dresses with black jeans, a black coat and a brown sweater below it. It is often seen with a brown hat, too.
Also, being an hermaphrodite, it is unknown about what kind of genital parts Yoite has.
Personality and Traits: The thing that Yoite craves the most is to be erased and he'd do anything to make it happen. It is because of this that Yoite dislikes (fears?) socializing; meeting new people, developing new friendships would be only a burden for him. New chains that would shackle him even more to the world that he so much desires to leave.
Although, to sum it up like that wouldn't completely tell everything about this side of his character. Yoite doesn't know how to socialize as much as he dislikes it. Living in a basement with little, if any, contact with the outside world made him grown up without this ability.
Despite being a taciturn kind of guy who only talks when he has to, only short and to the point every time he does, Yoite is actually really polite. He'll greet you and thank you properly when he ought to. And thus he doesn't dislike helping a person, he simply can't stand gratitude. He doesn't like being touched or, even worse, caressed. He's pessimistic, and can't stand optimism. He completely loathes himself, thinking that he's just a hideous burden and thus he wants to disappear. Without happy memories, without friends that would cry at his death, erasing completely all of the sins he has committed since his birth. And all of the people he has killed because of Kira.
Canon Background: Ever since his mother died giving birth to him, Yoite's life has continued to spiral downhill. Since then, his family has blamed him for her death and because of that, enclosed him in the basement, only letting him go out for church. Only his half-brother Tsukasa, going against his parents, treated him kindly.
At the start of his teenage years, his family decided to move into another house and, labeling him as "a bother", also decided to not take Yoite with them. Thus, for them, the only way to take care of that "bother" was to kill him. Failing the first attempt of cutting Yoite's throat, his own parents gave the knife to Tsukasa who, completely frightened, ran away. This diverted his parents' attention from Yoite, who managed to escape from the house, almost dead.
It was Hattori Toujuurou who found him and treated his wounds, taking him to the nearest hospital. Hattori Toujuurou was also the one who entrusted him with the forbidden "Kira" technique -- a ninja technique that gave him the power to control people's ki and kill them from the inside. This was at cost of his own lifespan, though for Yoite, it was a new reason to live that he had lost until then.
After a year of studying and training to learn the art of ninjustu, Yoite was left in the custody of Yukimi Kazuhiko, another ninja of the Kairoushuu organization, where he spent the rest of his life. Despite doing it unwillingly, Yukimi actually took care of him. A particular event that showed this was when Yoite suddenly had a huge growth spurt. Yukimi fed him, (because he couldn't see him so skinny, he says) and took care of him, kind of like a mother. Yukimi was even the one who gave Yoite his current name, as he had abandoned his birth name of 'Sora' after his parents attacked him.
While on one of his missions for the Kairoushuu, Yoite meets Miharu Rokujo, the current holder of the Shinrabanshou. The Shinrabanshou is potent hijitsu sealed in Miharu's body with the power to control everything and to grant any wishes. It is also the most coveted thing in the world of Nabari, the hidden world of ninjas.
Yoite, thinking that that was his only way to have his wish granted, kidnaps Miharu and forces him to agree to erase his existence from the world completely, even from people's minds. After that, the two boys start to work together in secret in order to make Miharu the king of Nabari and grant Yoite's wish. They decide to attempt to find all the kinjitsu that will explain how to control the Shinrabanshou.
After achieving in their goal, the two of them decide to run away from the Kairoushuu, seen as rebels after stealing the Kairoushuu's scrolls, and return to Miharu's hometown.
Strengths/Abilities: Yoite's abilities weren't limited to only or strength or wisdom; Yoite was actually skilled in both. As a ninja, he was trained in hand-to-hand combat and while living in a basement with books as his only friends, he developed a great intellect. His strongest ability, however, was 'kira,' a skill able to control people's ki and kill them from the inside out.
Weaknesses/Faults: While being his strongest ability, kira was his biggest weakness. The cost of the skill was the user's life and because of that, Yoite's health was more than bad. It is even said in one chapter that he only had less than two months of life left. Also because of kira, he completely lost the sense of taste, lost most of his hearing, (basing his communication on lip-reading) and his sight had gotten blurry.

But he had to. Miharu could be there and with those... dinosaurs? It was so unbelievable! Weren't those supposed to be extinct ages ago? But that wasn't the problem now. There was the possibility that Miharu could be in danger. ]
What is this place?
[ He waited for a reply, hoping that someone would have heard his message. ]
Miharu... [ He added, some minutes later. ] ... Miharu are you... here?

Third Person Sample: That evening started out kind of like every other evening in that house.
Yoite was on the couch, closed up in his shell under a blanket. Without saying anything or moving at all except for some random shifting on his own place, and Yukimi was on his computer chair typing something really fast - probably the report of today's mission or something like that, Yoite didn't know or much less cared about it. It wasn't something that should have concerned him anyway.
He followed Yukimi with his eyes when he stood up, walked to the kitchen, the sound of his slippers replaced the sound of the keyboard and then the clanking of the pots and pans followed along.
"Oi, you hungry?!"
Yoite didn't reply.
He stayed silent even when Yukimi walked from the kitchen to him, kind of upset, and asked him again. There wasn't really a reason why he didn't reply, he just... didn't want to.
Only two minutes passed after that when his stomach growled in reply to Yukimi's question.
"...You could've said it before." And with that, the older ninja walked to the kitchen again mumbling something that vaguely sounded like 'brats' .
Yes, it was just like any other evening.
