Character Information

Character Name: Tim Drake-Wayne
Character Series: DC Comics
Character Age: 17
Character Gender: Male
Original Canon
Canon Point: Midway through issue 25 of Red Robin.
Background Link: Wiki link.

Personality:
As the former third Robin, Tim is a reserved, brooding, intelligent young man. Rather than emulate his predecessors, he more resembles Bruce Wayne, the Batman. He often works himself to the point of exhaustion, both physical and mental, to help others and obsesses over his past mistakes whether the blame lies with him or not.

Tim's obsessive nature is simultaneously his biggest flaw and his biggest strength. At the young age of nine, he was able to deduce the secret identity of both Batman and Robin, which later landed him the job as Robin at thirteen. What Tim considers focused is what most consider obsessed. Cases, goals, relationships -- all of these are met with the full force of his concentration. Like any member of the Batfamily, he essentially stalks his friends and foes, whether it's to make sure they're safe or to make sure they're behaving. For him, sleeping is a luxury when there's a villain's plot to foil or a crime ring to take down. Unfortunately, this means that Tim can be extremely hard on himself. He has had countless people die as a result of his mistakes as a vigilante and he took none of them lightly. He is a master at brooding over things, from minuscule details like a missed hit to the death of a loved one. When his best friend, Superboy, died, he couldn't handle the loss on top of all the others (his girlfriend, his father, his other best friend, and even Batman all in a short period of time) and went so far as to attempt to clone him. Thanks to Superboy's Kryptonian genes, he was unable to succeed, but he tried desperately for months, searching everywhere for breakthrough information on cloning and raiding Lex Luthor's old labs for equipment. When Batman appeared dead, Tim was the only one not to believe it. Even with everyone else thinking him crazy, he went on a world-wide search for proof of Batman being alive. In the end, he was right, but it was a fine mix of perseverance and hope that allowed him to keep him believing in himself. Despite all of Tim's losses and failures, he remains hopeful and dedicated if a bit worse for wear. This is what made him a prime candidate for Robin after the second one died -- he was the light to guide Batman through his grief and guilt. Tim may be extremely serious about his work, but that doesn't mean he can't make puns with the worst of them. He tries hard to see the light in dark situations, and though that has become harder for him lately due to the tragedies in his life, it is still something he is capable of.

Perhaps because of his obsessive nature, he is an extremely hard worker. To become Robin is no small feat, and neither is becoming an independent vigilante with no superpowers at the young age of seventeen. His intelligence and analytical skills make up for what he doesn't have in natural physical talent for gymnastics. When fighting, he is able to incorporate the techniques of all of his masters to gain the advantage over even superhumans. His advanced problem-solving skills also serve to benefit him as he plans out his fights and is readily able to improvise should things not go according to plan. He's also incredibly resourceful, using the gadgets provided by the Batman and his own surroundings to prey on his enemies' weaknesses or to trick them. Even Batman admits that his intellect will one day surpass his own and Ra's Al Ghul recognizes him as a detective, a title formerly reserved only for the Batman. His serious nature enables him to excel at his role as Robin (now Red Robin); his all-business approach allows him to take each case seriously as well as keep his secret identity from his both his civilian friends and his superhero friends. This, to the shock of others, also means he can detach himself from the emotions involved in a case, such as determining the threat levels of many other superheroes, including his own family and friends. He's extremely dedicated to the job, so much so that he constantly acts like another person to avoid suspicion. Recently, he's focused more on following Bruce Wayne's lead while playing the part of Tim Drake-Wayne, but in prior years he had numerous fake identities, including girls. There's a good chance that if he's not talking to someone who already knows about his dual life, he's acting at least a little bit.

His family and friends are incredibly important to Tim as he is now aware how horrible it is to lose them. Perhaps because of the neglect from his parents when he was younger, Tim had spent much of his time wishing for a family, which he found in Batman and his partners. Despite his parents not showing him much affection during his childhood, he cared for them deeply. He feels guilty for his mother's death and when his father died, it took a heavy toll on him. Even now, he has not completely dealt with it, as many of his friends died around the same time and he dedicated himself to proving Bruce alive in order to not have to cope with it. Aside from the member of the Batfamily, he also formed many lasting friendships during his time on Young Justice and the Teen Titans, most important of which is the relationship between him and Superboy, Impulse/Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl. Tim considers his friends as very important and one of the things that sets him apart from Batman. He won't hesitate to ask his friends for help and utilize them as resources when the situation calls for it, unlike Batman.

Perhaps as a result of spending so much time as Batman's partner, Tim cannot express emotions very well. He tends to keep things bottled up, especially bad feelings. When someone is irritating him, he'll toss out commands and glares freely, but he finds it harder to express his happiness or any other emotion. As a younger teen, he was more excitable and enthusiastic, but that has dwindled as he grew older and he lost everything. Tim is more quiet and reserved and has trained to keep his emotions off of his face during the time he is Robin, which bleeds into his every day life as Tim Drake. Sure, he can fake enthusiasm or sheepishness when he's pretending to be the son of Bruce Wayne or the normal kid at school or any other of his numerous identities, but it's harder for him when he's trying to be himself. Besides this, he also refrains from talking about his problems unless absolutely necessary. He'll talk to his older brother, Dick, to help deal with the loss of his loved ones, but for smaller issues, he stays silent and keeps them to himself.

Tim's sense of humor is dry and sarcastic at best and littered with bad puns at worst. He's certainly not the type to find crude humor hilarious. But give him an opportunity to make a pop culture pun in the middle of taking down some gang-bangers, and he'll be all over that while simultaneously scheming just how to get to and defeat their boss. Otherwise, he'll stick to sarcastic comments and finding the irony in most situations.

Abilities:
Tim is known as "the smart Robin," meaning his strength lies in his intelligence. He has a genius-level intellect and a vast knowledge of anything Batman has deemed important. As a result of this, he can speak many languages, has a good understanding of science, and knows how to care for any wounds as well as perform CPR. He is also extremely good with computers, whether it's tracking someone, finding information, or hacking.

However, this doesn't mean he can't defend himself physically. He has learned from and trained with many great masters, including Lady Shiva (the greatest martial artist in his world), Batman, Batgirl, and Nightwing. Tim has also worked hard to build and maintain his strength, so while he doesn't have superstrength, he is rather strong.
