[Today is the day for A BEACH TRIP. That's right. Fun in the sun, beach volleyball, forgetting to reapply sunscreen, pretending to drown, throwing sand on sleeping people.

Or, if you're Tim, sitting under a beach umbrella with a book and a can of zesti. It's all very exciting.]

[Conner comes up behind Tim, one hand cradling a beach ball on his hips. He quirks a brow at the other.]

Yes, I'm aware. But this is a really good book and my skin isn't exactly invulnerable. [Meaning he will burn to a crisp the second he comes out from underneath his umbrella.]

[Conner sits down on the sand next to time, seeing as the other boy seems intent on staying put. He glances at the book in Tim's hand.] What are you reading, anyways?

Normal sun repellant seems to work for everyone else. It's also significantly cheaper.

The Centaur by John Updike. Have you read it? [He doubts it, but there's a chance one of Kon's teachers assigned it for class. And an even smaller chance of Kon actually doing his homework.]

It's the story of a boy coming to terms with both his sexuality and his father's mortality while the father realizes his son can survive on his own. [He glances over at Conner, unsure if he's actually interested. Then his gaze shifts to match Conner's, fixed on the water.]

That's what I got from it, anyway. There's a lot to interpret.

[Peaceful until some kid lands a volleyball in the space right between them, sending sand flying into their faces and laps.]

Ugh...my zesti. [Tim makes a face as he sees that the top of his soda can is now covered in sand.]

[Tim raises an eyebrow at that.] There's a lot of Greek mythology as well. It's pretty interesting.

[In Jaime's case, he and Paco were playing beach volleyball. It was the most intense game ever! Until, you know, the inevitable came and Jaime had to go hunt down the volleyball while Paco left to go make-out with Brenda.

Passing by Tim, Jaime stops by and gestures towards the ball that's somehow behind Tim.]

Hey, um... can I get that?

[The last person Tim's expecting to see when he turns around is Blue Beetle. Out of costume. Thankfully, he's trained enough not to show too much surprise. Instead, he lets his expression show a teasing smile.]

So you're the one who cut my zesti's life short? [He holds up the can and wags it a bit, showing him how the top is completely covered in sand.]

[It's not often that Bruce's annoyed out of costume. And yet he totally IS. Why? Because he's just spent the last hour on the phone with one very stupid answering service that somehow thought he was in town this past weekend. Eventually, the mess got cleared up, but that was still one hour of his life he really wanted back.

Rubbing his temples, he sighs and finally - finally! - hangs up before taking a seat beside Tim.] If they call again, I promise I'll be switching services.
