[Tim and Conner are standing just inside the entrance of the large room the party is being held in. It's a few minutes before the party is set to begin -- only one of two guests have shown up already and Bruce is seeing to them. In the meantime, Tim is drilling Conner on proper high society party etiquette.]

And don't try to ask the caterers for champagne. I've already told them not to give you any. [Tim narrows his eyes at Conner at the idea of what he might do.]

Good. And don't forget to smile. You look like you're going to flip over a table.

[He starts out stern but ends with a slight smile. He is grateful to Conner for coming, even if he might mess up horribly.]

You did it wrong. [A small sigh, then Tim is pulling it undone and pulling Kon closer by the two ends. It only takes him a few seconds to retie it and then he focuses on fixing Kon's collar.]

Don't worry about it. He's fine with you being here. [He made sure, he doesn't say.]

Wouldn't want you to shed all over the floor. [He smirks.]

[Tim checks his very expensive watch.]

It's eight o'clock now. Everyone is going to be fashionably late, but the guests should start trickling in soon enough.

It's been a long week and I didn't want to go through this without reinforcements. [He gives Kon a sheepish smile to make sure he doesn't get mad.]

So far.

Just don't say anything stupid and you'll do fine.

STUDENT TEACHER TIM AND STUDENT KON WHAT OF IT

Image

[It's only Tim's first week as a student teacher, but already the teacher is using him as her own personal grader and secretary. He's even been ordered to get her coffee in the morning. Eventually he just settled on making it unbearably sweet so she'd stop asking. Regardless, he hasn't been able to shake the mountain of paperwork that came with a high school English class. Aside from the usual tests, there are also all the essays the students have to write, which are just depressing. So Tim is sitting at his tiny desk during his lunch hour, trying to get it all done while the teacher is in the faculty lounge.]

[Tim peeks his head around one of the stacks of papers to look at Conner, pausing in his reading of one of the essays.]

Hey, Conner. Did you want something?

[identity profile] chapsandcowl.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Tim sighs, glancing at the pile of already-graded papers next to him. He wants to reassure the kid, but it's kind of hard when he just gave him a C on his paper.]

Well, I just graded yours and while you didn't fail, you didn't do too well. Did you want to talk about it?

[identity profile] chapsandcowl.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
[He looks up at Conner.] How does a C sound to you?

You can try asking Ms. White for extra credit. She seems to like that. [He sighs again and runs a hand through his hair.] But honestly, it would be more beneficial to learn how to write better. You don't want to do extra credit after every test, do you?
